Brookinaires Gospel Choir

Mission Statement: “Spreading the word of God through the ministry of music, with spirit – filled song and praise.”

Rehearsal:  Wednesday evenings, 7 – 8:30 p.m.

Brief History:  In 1969 (while at the 8th and Towne location), Pastor H. Hartford Brookins named the unnamed choir the Brookinaires Gospel Choir (BGC).

Under the leadership of Joe Westmoreland, the choir grew from approximately, 18 members (1971) to 125 members (1977).

For over four decades, the BGC has ministered to local churches and venues, as well as, venues in Atlanta, New York, San Francisco, Texas, and Washington, D.C.  The choir has, also, performed in Europe, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Paris, Rome, South Africa, and Sweden.  The BGC is known for their signature song, “Grace of God” and their performance in “Jezebel” and “Job” which were written and composed by the musical genius of Joe K. Westmoreland and Charles May.

The BGC sings on third Sundays, participates in FAME Mass Choir events; sings at the requests of other churches and organizations and at the request of Pastor Boyd.

We welcome all who desire to be a part of a vibrant music ministry.
